After Ultherapy
Post-Treatment Care Instructions
Expected Sensations
The most commonly reported experiences after treatment include puffiness, soreness, redness, tingling, or a pins-and-needles sensation. These are normal and typically resolve within a few hours.
Do NOT Apply Ice
Do not apply ice after your Ultherapy treatment. The procedure intentionally delivers inflammation to stimulate collagen production, and ice would counteract this beneficial inflammatory response.
Avoid Steroid Creams
Avoid all topical steroid creams — both prescription and over-the-counter varieties. These interfere with the inflammatory process necessary for optimal results.
Makeup
It is safe to apply makeup after treatment since the procedure involves no injections or skin trauma.
Pain Management
Avoid NSAIDs including Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, Advil, and Naproxyn, as these inhibit inflammation and reduce treatment efficacy. Extra-strength Tylenol is acceptable if needed. Aloe vera gel or Arnica may also be applied for comfort. Contact the office if discomfort persists despite pain relief measures.
Activity & Exercise
There are no physical limitations following treatment. You may resume normal daily activities and return to the gym without restrictions. However, avoid cold water activities and cryotherapy sessions — essentially, avoid anything that cools the body.
Timeline for Results
Results typically appear around one month post-treatment with visible improvements in skin laxity. Full results develop between 3–6 months.
Follow-Up Schedule
Dr. Avaliani requests a one-week follow-up appointment, then return visits at one month, three months, and six months for progress documentation through photography.
