What is new about Ultherapy PRIME®
The upgrade should allow for a faster and more comfortable treatment in theory. It also has an upgraded picture screen to look more modern. It is still HIFU.
How long do Ultherapy PRIME® treatment results last?
Same as before, With just one session and zero downtime, get results that can last up to a year or more!
How often should Ultherapy PRIME® treatments be performed ?
Ideally once a year, but some younger patients may benefit from doing it every 2 years Typically collagen has a half life of 2-5 years but in perimenopause, things start to change so it is advised to be done every 1 year for the best results.
Is there downtime with Ultherapy PRIME®treatment?
There is ZERO downtime as this is ultrasound technology. The same as before as this is High intensity focuses ultrasound treatment
Can Ultherapy PRIME®be done in the summer?
Absolutely ye. It’s a non invasive procedure with zero downtime and can safely be done all year around
Can Ultherapy PRIME®be done on Asian skin?
Yes, as it uses HIFU technology which is color blind and will not cause concern for Hyperpigmentation as many other treatment do,
Dr.Avaliani’s practice roughly has 60 % Asian patient population so she is very comfortable performing this proecedure and comfortable with handling Asian skin
Can Ultherapy PRIME®do done on dark skin tones including African American?
Yes, as it uses HIFU technology which is color blind technology and should not cause hyperpigmentation issues commonly feared in darker skin tone individuals.
Dr. Avaliani’s practice has about 10-15% of African American population
Does Ultherapy PRIME®hurt?
The discomfort with Ultherapy Prime is improved as the energy is delivered faster.
How long to wait before getting Ultherapy PRIME®after Botox/Dysport/Xeomin/Daxxify?
There is no hard rule to this and generally is up to Dr. Avaliani’s discretion and guidance.
If these two procedures are being done in the same day which Dr. Avaliani commonly performs, then Dr. Avaliani performs the Ultherapy treatment first and followed by Botox/Dysport/Xeomin/Daxxify injections.
If Botox/Dysport/Xeomin/Daxxify treatment was performed already, then we wait for 2 week follow up and then perform the Ultherapy treatment to minimize the need for extra appointments.
Of note in 10 years as an Ultherapy provider, Dr. Avaliani has not had a bad incident combining Botox/Dysport/Xeomin/Daxxify injections with Ultherapy but if it’s preferred by the patient to wait, then injection first and Ultherapy treatment at a follow up visit.
How long to wait before getting Ultherapy PRIME®after receiving dermal fillers like Juvederm or Restylane?
If you are being treated by Dr. Avaliani, the answer depends on where we are injecting the filler and where the Ultherapy PRIME®being performed.
Of course, one can safely plan for Non surgical nose or non surgical chin injection or lip augmentation on the same date as their Ultherapy PRIME® treatment.
Other areas are to be discussed with Dr. Avaliani or your treating provider.
How long to wait before Ultherapy PRIME® treatment after receiving Sculptra and or Radiesse treatment?
Dr. Avaliani commonly and comfortably provides combination treatments for her patients and has performed Ultherapy and injection of Sculptra and or Radiesse in the same visit with no side effects reported.
If you have done it before, if it has been more than 2 weeks to 1 month, Dr. Avaliani is comfortable providing the treatment then.
How long to wait before Ultherapy PRIME®treatment after receiving non ablative laser resurfacing treatment?
It is better to call and ask ahead. If you are being treated by Dr. Avaliani, then Dr. Avaliani commonly performs combination treatments like Ultherapy PRIME® and Picosure laser resurfacing in the same treatment on the fac ad or neck.
If you are treating your face with Ultherapy PRIME® and want to ask about laser on the face as well, it is better to call but Dr. Avaliani can combine certain treatments in the same visit on the same area.
If you are treating your neck with Ultherapy PRIME® and want to have non ablative laser on your face, it is still very possible and safe to do in the same visit. Just let Dr. Avaliani and her team handle the questions you have and help you schedule it.
How long to wait before Ultherapy PRIME®treatment after receiving ablative laser resurfacing treatment?
On the same area of treatment, Dr. Avaliani would recommend waiting at least 1-3 months
On different area of treatment, you can start immediately
How long to wait before Ultherapy PRIME®after receiving laser hair removal treatment on the face?
Dr. Avaliani’s office commonly preforms Ultherapy PRIME® and laser hair removal service on the same day visit. Ultherapy PRIME® is performed first and laser hair removal after.
If facial laser hair removal was performed and the skin is not irritated and healed ,then Ultherapy PRIME® can be performed even 24 hrs after the laser hair removal
How long to wait before Ultherapy PRIME®after receiving PDO thread lift face treatment?
Dr. Avaliani would recommend waiting a minimum of 1 month but ideally 3 months after PDO Face Threads to have Ultherapy procedure performed as PDO threads take some time to heal and settle.
Dr. Avaliani also believes that Ultherapy PRIME® should be done first and then assessed if there is any extra need for PDO threads after the effect of Ultherapy has fully kicked in 3 months post Ultherapy procedure.
How long to wait before Ultherapy PRIME®after receiving RF microneedling treatment like Genius RF, Morpheus, Scarlet RF, Potenza RF?
If treating the same area, sometimes they can be performed in the same day even, but it doesn’t make sense to combine no downtime treatment with downtime treatment hence Dr. Avaliani likes to separate them.
If the same area to be treated after Ultherapy PRIME®, you can wait 1-2 weeks after receiving RF Microneedling to get Ultherapy PRIME® treatment
If different areas are to be treated, like Ultherapy PRIME®for face and RF Microneedling for neck, they can be done on the same visit.
Can Ultherapy PRIME® be performed while receiving chemotherapy treatment?
The short answer is yes but both treating doctors should be aware of it , the performing doctor and the chemotherapy doctor. Dr. Avaliani has about 10 % of her patient base currently receiving anti cancer treatment and is comfortable having the discussion with her patients
Can Ultherapy PRIME®treatment be performed while on immunocompromised treatment for Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriasis, Scleroderma etc?
Dr. Avaliani has treated similar patients in her practice with no issues while on immune therapy for their disease.
Can Ultherapy PRIME® treatment be performed while receiving acne treatment Accutane?
Dr. Avaliani has successfully and without incdeint treated patients with multiple laser treatment while on Accutane therapy.
Can Ultherapy PRIME® treatment be performed while pregnant?
There is no rule on this but Dr.Avalinai has treated many of her pregnant patients with Ultherapy . These were discussed with the patient and the patient discussed with their OB physician as well. Since this is an ultrasound treatment , there was minimal to no risk of any skin breaks and infection so both the patient and Dr. Avaliani felt comfortable performing the procedure.
Can Ultherapy PRIME® treatment be performed while breastfeeding?
Dr. Avaliani has treated many patients while they were breastfeeding. The technicsl details were discussed during consultation as how to prepare and what discomfort measures to be used.
When is it ok to apply make up after Ultherapy PRIME®
Since this is Ultrasound based technology and the skin remains completely intact and skin barrier is not broken, make up can safely be applied immediately after Ultherapy PRIME® procedure.
What discomfort tools does Dr. Avaliani offer for Ultherapy PRIME® treatment?
Short answer is everything except anesthesiologist
Dr. Avaliani offers the following which often are used in combination
- Custom formulation topical numbing cream for at least 1 hr
- High strength Tylenol
- Prescription strength pain medication like Oxycodone and anti anxiety meds like Xanax
- Laughing gas aka nitrous oxide system Pro-Nox
- Nerve blocks
The discomfort varies from person to person so the combination of the above will vary from person to person and also how they will be going home after procedure.
For most people, topical numbing and laughing gas work like magic!
